Manhard delivered these legally mandated projects through a 3-year engineering volume contract with this confidential national client. The projects were in response to publicly funded capital improvement projects for the City of Chicago, at various locations throughout Chicago proper, which has included over 100 projects to date.

Acting as our client’s overall representative, Manhard identified and inventoried customer assets, determined conflicts with city proposed projects, mapped manholes, updated customer records, designed underground telecommunications infrastructure and permitted with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Office of Underground Coordination (OUC).

In response to large volumes of awarded work, the Manhard team utilized GIS to streamline the plan production process. Our teams innovated data management practices by creating a database of drawing files to reference where project boundaries overlap with previous projects. Additionally, Manhard developed an application for manhole mapping to be used in the field so that data and photos could be processed in real time.

All of the projects came in under budget and with quick turnaround. Because the client was impressed with our ability to complete and deliver the projects so quickly, Manhard became a trusted consultant for future work.
